“Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38)
This was one of the greatest messages that was ever preached. It was preached at the day of Pentecost. The number saved was over three thousand. How amazing that such a simple message can change a life. This was the message that Billy Graham always preached and many were saved because of this simple message. This was the message that Jesus came to preach. This is the message of the gospel. Repent, repent of your sins and change your life.
The problem is most Christians repent just enough to get forgiveness, but not enough to see the kingdom of God. If we are to save this world, we must repent and bring in the kingdom of God.
Repentance means more than weeping over your sins, or even turning from those sins to follow God. Repentance means you change the way you think. And it is only by changing the way we think that we can bring in the kingdom of God on earth. Changing our thinking about God’s kingdom here on earth means that we not only see the visible, but the invisible. We see God moving on earth.
Bringing the kingdom of God to earth is our mandate as a Christian. As a disciple of Jesus, it must be our number one goal, to bring heaven to earth. This can only start when we repent and change our thinking.
Our prayer should be, “…your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:10)
