“So he replied to the messengers, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.” (Luke 7:22)
The context of this scripture was that John the Baptist asked Jesus’ disciples if Jesus was the one or does he have to continue looking for another.
This answer that Jesus gave should have removed any doubt. Jesus went about the country side healing the sick and proclaiming the gospel. If He was not the Son of God, how could He heal?
The simple and the poor followed Jesus because they saw what was happening.
While the religious leaders were threatened and tried to figure out what it all meant.
After Jesus’ resurrection, the uneducated apostles continued His healing ministry and the people continued to show up in crowds, while the theologians continued to question what was going on. Nothing has changed, God is still in the healing business and the theologians are still trying to figure out what is happening.
Because of the Cross of Jesus Christ our healing is still happening. “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)
