“Humble yourself, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.” (1 Peter 5:6)
Humility is not something that we prize in this day and time.
The world is telling us we must lift ourselves up if the world is going to know who we are.
We need to tell everyone how wonderful we are. This is the world’s way, not God’s way.
God’s way says we need to humble ourselves before God and He will lift us up when the time is right.
In humility there is the total absence of pride, and it is at the very farthest distance from anything like self-conceit. There is no self-praise in humility. Rather it has praise for others.
Humility does not love the upper seats and aspire to high places. It is willing to take the lowest seat and prefers those places where it will be unnoticed. Modesty is one of its most prominent characteristics.
The prayer of humility is:
“Never let the world break in, fix a mighty gulf between; keep me humble and unknown, prized and loved by God alone.”
Do you want the deeper life in God?
Humility is one of those important keys that we need to know.
