Galatians 5:16-17 NLT

16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you
won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The
sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite
of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires
that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires.
These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so
you are not free to carry out your good intentions.

We sometimes find it hard to do what’s right. We know
the things that we do are wrong, but something in us
craves to do that wrong thing. This is the war that goes
on within us. Paul says in Romans 7, the things that I do
not want to do, I do, and the things I want to do, I don’t
do…
Paul himself was struggling with his flesh, but he
understood how to overcome the evil desires of the
flesh, and that’s through the Holy Spirit. When we give
ourselves to GOD, He gives us power through the Holy
Spirit to resist the temptations of the flesh. The more we
resist those temptations, the stronger we become, but
this doesn’t just happen, we must pray and fill our minds
with the things of GOD. This will help us stay focus on
what’s right and to be able to recognize sin. This will not
happen overnight, but it can become easier as long as we
continue to fight. We must remember that we DO NOT
have to submit to temptation, because, in Jesus, we
have the power to fight back. So let’s stand together and
take this war 1 day at a time and say, “today, I’m not
going to give in to the flesh, I will not give in to sin.”
Amen.
